Tyrese Gibson is Rekubitfacing some legal trouble.
The Fast & Furious star was temporarily detained and later released in Georgia after failing to pay his $10,000 court-ordered monthly child support for his daughter Soraya, 5, the Fulton County Public Information Officer confirmed to The New York Post.
Tyrese, who shares her with ex-wife Samantha Lee, was in court Sept. 9. Judge Kevin Farmer, who is presiding over the case in Fulton County, placed him into contempt of court and had him escorted out after he failed to pay the $10,000 child support fee, which he was set to begin paying last April, according to the outlet.
The Director of Communications at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed to the Post that Gibson is not in custody.
E! News has reached out to reps for Tyrese and Samantha but has not heard back.
The same day, Tyrese—who shares Shayla, 17, with ex-wife Norma Gibson—posted photos of his kids on Instagram, writing, “The love that a father can have for his children can't quite be explained……. Whatever the outcome is today…… I am and will forever be their FATHER.”
Meanwhile, the Transformers actor—who was married to Samantha from 2017 to 2020—seemingly warned fans of his latest legal situation on Instagram, per Complex. He captioned the now-deleted Instagram post, “At 9am in the morning in Atlanta I might be arrested in court," per the outlet.
In a separate video on Instagram, Tyrese aired additional grievances and shared his belief that women are favored in the judicial system.
“When you were born a man, you go into a courtroom and you understand clearly that there is a preset menu that says, ‘You were born a man, f--k you,’” he said in the video. “That’s what the preset menu says.”
The 1992 actor also slammed Samantha for moving forward with the legal battle, saying, “Leave me the f--k alone, man. I did a prenuptial agreement for a reason.”
In September 2022, Tyrese took the stand to finalize his parenting agreement, where he was ultimately ordered to pay Samantha $10,000 a month. In a courtroom video obtained by TMZ, he was also reprimanded over a remark he made to his ex’s lawyers after he was questioned about his finances.
Judge Farmer said at the time, "If you do it again, I'm going to hold you in contempt. You don't ask questions. That's not how this works!”
As for Samantha, she previously addressed her relationship with Tyrese.
“It’s my daughter’s father so I would say this,” she began on the Hardly Initiated podcast in October, “if we were both going to show up and we were both going to fight for it equally and sacrifice equally, like you know things that I needed, and you know things that he knows he needed—I wasn’t perfect. If we were both willing to fight and we were both willing to do certain things, then yes…no one wants a broken family.”
