New York lottery games have made two residents instant millionaires. One man won $9.6 million after matching six numbers correctly in the state's LOTTO jackpot. Another man won $1 million from one of the scratch-off games the state provides.
Robert Reda from Suffern, New York, won the $9.6 million in the Sept. 2 New York Lotto drawing after matching the first six numbers. He purchased his ticket at Yas Quick Mart, located at 191 Route 59.
The winning numbers were 13, 37, 40, 45, 47, and 52. The Bonus Number, 09, is used to determine the second prize.
Reda walked into New York Lottery headquarters on Wednesday and chose to receive a single lump sum payment of $3,308,147, the cash value of the annuity jackpot after withholdings.
On the same day, a man from Wayne County walked into New York Lottery headquarters to claim a prize he won from an instant game.
Dylan Schute of Wolcott won the top prize of $1 million on the HGTV My Lottery Dream Home scratch-off game from the New York Lottery. He purchased the winning ticket at Bob's Supermarket on Park Lane.
After necessary tax deductions, Schute received a one-time payment of $650,212 as a lump sum. He became the last player to win a top prize in the game.
All top prizes for the HGTV My Lottery Dream Home ticket have been claimed. Players can still claim valid lower-tier prizes until Sept. 14, 2024.
The scratch-off games of New York Lottery have generated a total sales revenue of $4,406,338,198 during the fiscal year of 2022-2023, according to the lottery site.
